Owl Lodge (sleeps 2 - 6)
Set in an elevated position, this Scandinavian self-catering holiday lodge here at Barend overlooks our own loch and offers stunning views from the main deck to the Galloway woods opposite and directly across to the hilly Colvend Golf Club and, from the upper deck, out across Sandyhills Bay and the Solway Firth to the Lake District and Cumbria.

Level access from the tarmac path into the entrance hall. Door to the right leads to the double divan bedroom. Opposite is a bathroom comprising of bath with electric shower over, toilet and wash-hand basin. Door through to large lounge with patio doors to the deck overlooking the Galloway countryside. Dining area with door to deck and fully fitted kitchen. Carpeted open tread stairs from the hall leading to the large twin bedroom with lounge and patio doors on to the upper deck. Door leading off into double divan bedroom with en-suite toilet with hand wash basin.

Red Kite Lodge (sleeps 2 - 4)
Set in an elevated position, this Scandinavian self-catering holiday lodge here at Barend overlooks our own loch and offers stunning views from the main deck to the Galloway woods opposite and directly across to the hilly Colvend Golf Club and, from the upper deck, out across Sandyhills Bay and the Solway Firth to the Lake District and Cumbria.

Our Red Kite Lodge has level access into the entrance hall with a double bedroom to the right and a large light and airy bathroom with a walk-in shower, toilet and fitted wash-hand basin unit with drawers to the left. Glazed door through to the open plan kitchen / dining area and two-seater leather settee with doors onto the full-width deck. A carpeted open-tread staircase leads up to the upstairs lounge which has full-width patio doors out onto the upper deck. There is a door from the rear of the lounge to another bedroom with a zip-and-link bed offering you a choice of deep-sprung twin beds or a super king divan.

Kestrel Lodge (sleeps 2 - 6)
Set in an elevated position, this Scandinavian self-catering holiday lodge here at Barend overlooks our own loch and offers stunning views from the main deck to the Galloway woods opposite and directly across to the hilly Colvend Golf Club and, from the upper deck, out across Sandyhills Bay and the Solway Firth to the Lake District and Cumbria.

Door through to large lounge with patio doors to the deck overlooking the Galloway countryside. Dining area with door to deck and fully fitted kitchen. Carpeted open tread stairs from the hall leading to the large twin bedroom with lounge and patio doors on to the upper deck. Door leading off into king divan bedroom. Great views.

We provide a lovely welcome pack comprising of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits, cake & a bottle of wine etc. There is a bar and restaurant within Barend, Sandyhills. There is parking adjacent to the Lodge.

Things to see and do
There’s so much to see and do during your Galloway Lodges self-catering holidays here at Barend. Our 4-star Scandinavian-style holiday lodges in Dumfries and Galloway are just a 10-minute walk to Sandyhills beach. One of the worlds renowned 7Stanes Mountain Biking trails at Dalbeattie Forest & Mabie Forest are nearby along with a host of other activities including horse riding, cycling, coastal and forest walking trails.  For the hardy walkers who like a challenge there are many fabulous hills for example The Merrick at 843 metres high to the smaller sibling the Criffel standing at 570 metres giving stunning views over towards the Lake District.

The Galloway Forest Park has 300 square miles to explore as well as a dark sky observatory, and is claimed to be the largest forested land area in Britain striving to become a National Park status. The park was granted Dark Sky status in November 2009, making it the first area in the UK to be designated so.  

There are also many other places to see and explore including Museums, historic buildings, children’s attractions, wildlife centres and RSPB Nature Reserves.
