Beginning from the main car park in Hawkshead, head to the main road to the South of the village and turn left walking East carefully along the road. Just after crossing the river turn left along a minor road and follow this past Scar House Lane to a large house on your right, just after this there's a public footpath heading up into Colthouse Plantation.

Follow this up the hill past Spring Wood to Rough Hows. At the end of the trees look left and follow a path Northwards heading down a dip and up again before turning left onto a larger path leading to a stile with dog gate beside. Pass through and head up onto the summit of Latterbarrow. Return to the stile but don't cross, turn right and follow the path down to the road.

Turn left then right and look for a path on the left leading back to Hawkshead. There may be sheep! Follow the path which is well signed back to the village.
